Rosalee Jenkins

Rosalee began at the Syracuse EOC Bridge Program in 1989. Over the next 15 years, and many ups and downs, Rosalee experienced what she terms as an 'awakening.' With this change, and the support of SEOC staff, Rosalee was able to get a job as a Relief Resident Manager at the Salvation Army in 2004.

Since then, she has worked her way up, and we are proud to say that she now works for the Salvation Army in three capacities: Resident Manager, Independent Skills Coordinator, and Part-time Case Manager. Rosalee is determined to get her GED, and has been working with the SEOC faculty to attain this goal.

***UPDATE: In March 2008, Rosalee passed the GED! This is a huge accomplishment for her, and we are so proud here at the SEOC. Rosalee is looking forward to starting the College Prep program here, and then plans to earn a degree in Social Work. Congratulations, Rosalee!

Here’s what she has to say about the SEOC:
“I came here after being homeless. I was very discouraged. I was ready to settle for anything. But it was the the people at the SEOC that made the difference for me - their persistence and encouragement. I don't think I would have gotten so far if it weren't for the relationships that they formed with me. I came in with the attitude, but they opened me up to a whole lot more than what I had accepted for myself.

They helped me to understand what the possibilities in were. They were not asking for anything in return but my effort. Dennis (SEOC counselor) has been like an older brother to me. No matter what life situations I've dealt with, they supported me. They never closed to the door to me. The EOC has so much to offer! It's like a magnet!”
