EMT Program Completers, December 2007

The health services industry is growing, and so, too, is the State University of New York’s Syracuse EOC!  For the first time ever, Syracuse EOC is offering an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program.  This program is designed to train and certify students to become employed as Basic Emergency Medical Technicians.  To satisfactorily complete the program, students must complete a 15-week program that consists of coursework in ambulance operations, scene assessment of various types of emergencies and injuries, general pharmacology, and medical, legal and ethical issues.  Students are also required to pass the New York State Practical Skills Exam and the New York State Written Exam.

This past December, Kevin Davis and Yvonne Hodge (pictured above) did just that—enrolled in SEOC’s new program, completed all required coursework and a practicum and then passed the practical and written state exams.  Currently, both Yvonne and Kevin are being recruited by Rural/Metro Medical Services of Syracuse, which has been serving the Central New York area since 1953.

Finally, the staff and faculty wish to congratulate Kevin and Yvonne for their exciting achievements!  We also wish them good luck as they experience personal growth and embark on enhanced employment and educational opportunities.
