This summer, the SEOC welcomed a new department to its program administration, called Information and Learning Technologies, or ILT. It brings together the staff that specialize in data management, electronic learning tools, communications, and all other information technologies at the SEOC. The consolidation of these human and material resources will streamline our technology infrastructure and enable us to better serve our students and the community.
At the head of this new department is Cynthia Doss. She's served the SEOC for over ten years in our Admissions & Counseling Department as the lead data administrator, and she brings this experience to her new position along with a comprehensive understanding of our programs, our students, and our mission. Joining her in this department are Greg Gilmore, IT Specialist, and Amanda Wall, ATTAIN Computer Lab Manager.
The department has also welcomed a new member, Ellen Nutting, who will serve in two capacities: as a second ATTAIN Lab Manager and as the SEOC Librarian. Her background in library science, information technology, and curriculum development will be integral to the upcoming expansion and improvements to the SEOC Library and its information resources.
Along with a new name and new staff, ILT will be moving into a new home in the coming months. As part of our strategic plan, the library and ATTAIN Computer Lab will be merging into one physical space, which they will also share with another computer-based Learning Lab. This move will complete the merge between information and technology at the SEOC, and will provide students with a more efficient and effective way to locate and access the resources they need to be successful, both academically and personally.
The staff of ILT is looking forward to sharing more developments with you as the future unfolds. It's an exciting time to be in ILT at the SEOC!
