Microsoft certifications are based on globally-recognized standards and demonstrate your computing skills and help advance your career prospects in a competitive job market. Microsoft® Certified Application Specialists are a part of a global community of distinguished achievers. Your prospective employers will be impressed by your understanding of Microsoft Office programs. Certification verifies a wide variety of in-demand desktop computing skills; not only in programs like Word or Excel, but also for specific job functions such as managing budgets and presentations. Having these certifications, because it is third party, tells the employer from the minute you walk in the door that you’ve got certain skills. Supervisors and colleagues will look to YOU for the answers in MS Office.

We offer training and testing in all pieces of the 2013 Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
Who can benefit from becoming a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist?

Microsoft® Certified Application Specialists are a part of a global community of distinguished achievers. This Microsoft certification credential tells the world you have demonstrated proficiency in the newest standard of the world's foremost desktop computing applications. Microsoft Certified Application Specialist certifications are primarily for office workers who use Microsoft Office programs as a vital part of their job functions. These certifications cover the entire Microsoft Office Suite, encompassing: Word 2013, PowerPoint® 2013, Excel® 2013, Outlook® 2013 and Access® 2013, as well as Windows Vista®.

How long is the program?

Each Microsoft Office 2013 Certification training program is scheduled for 60-90 hours, depending on the program. Classtime is typically broken down into nine hours a week. This training is intensive, and will require that you attend class everyday. In addition to the lessons, there will be practice exercises, quizzes, and a pre-test. We use a combination of online, print, and one-on-one instruction to prepare students for their certification exam. You may need more or less than the designated allotted hours, and your instructor will help you determine what is best for you.

Are there any prerequisites?

Yes - beginning the Certification course requires that you have at least an intermediate understanding and proficiency with the Microsoft Office application you are studying, but your experience may be with either Office 2013, Office 2010 OR 2007 versions. Students at the Syracuse EOC that have completed the Introduction to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access will be eligible to take the respective certification course. Other applicants will be accepted on a case-by-case basis dependent upon their documented experience with the program, referrals from an employer, or other appropriate qualifications. ALL applicants will be required to a take pretest that will ascertain a student's existing skill levels.
