Health Train - Clinical & Life Skills

 

Through a partnership with CenterState CEO, the Health Train program for the clinical healthcare workers will be offered at SUNY EOC.  Each of the pre-employment training programs will consist of 60 hours of training which includes soft skills training with an emphasis on communication and teambuilding and a site visit to a healthcare facility.  Students will also participate in resume writing workshops and mock interviews before they complete the program.

 

Healthcare employers that have job openings will be invited on the last day of class to interview students that finish the program successfully.  The employers are seeking candidates for the following job opportunities:  Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), and Geriatric Caregiver.

 

Individuals interested in applying for Health Train program must fill out an application at EOC, attend an information session and participate in a pre-screening interview with the selection committee.  Individuals must take a TABE assessment (Test of Adult Basic Education) or a BEST+ or a Class E assessment for ESL individuals. An assessment taken at another Center in the last year may be sumitted. Individuals must demonstrate basic academic skills in reading, writing and math.  Maximum class is 20 students per training session.  Classes will run on a monthly basis.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

-       Applicant must be 18 years or older to apply

-       All prospective students are required to provide photo ID with a New York State address

-       Income Documentation

-       High School Diploma or Equivalent (Waivable: St. Joseph’s & Loretto Health & Rehabilitation)

-       Complete pre-screening interview
