ProTrain - Manufacturing Training Program

ProTrain (Production Manufacturing Training Program) is a six-week program designed to prepare students to be excellent entry level employees as well as prepare them for career pathways in the manufacturing sector. The program includes team building, blueprint reading, use of micrometers and calipers for measurement as well as hands on exposure to manufacturing concepts such as 5S and lean manufacturing. Students will also learn how to solder utilizing a magnifying glass and microscope. As part of the program, students will earn their OSHA 10 for general industry certification. In addition, students will also participate in soft skills training, resume writing workshops and mock interviews before they complete the program.

Individuals will be asked to complete a SUNY EOC application. Once individuals have completed the application, they will be given a TABE test (Test of Adult Basic Education) to assess their reading and math ability.  Individuals should score at an eighth-grade reading and math level to ensure they can comprehend the material that is presented during class.  In addition to the testing, individuals will be given a pre-screening interview and will participate in a hands-on construction assessment to determine their current construction knowledge.
